Film actress Kerry Washington will join previously announced stars James Spader and Richard Thomas in the forthcoming Broadway production of David Mamet’s Race. The new play is scheduled to begin previews on November 17 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and will open on December 6, directed by the playwright. No information about the storyline of Race has been revealed.
A native New Yorker, Washington has amassed extensive film credits including Lakeview Terrace, I Think I Love My Wife, The Last King of Scotland, The Dead Girl, Fantastic Four, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Ray, The Human Stain, She Hate Me, Bad Company and Save the Last Dance. The actress will make her Broadway debut in Race.
Race will feature scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Paul Tazewell and lighting design by Brian MacDevitt.
The play will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Steve Traxler, the team behind Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow, Glengarry Glen Ross and November as well as August: Osage County, Blithe Spirit and Hair.
